The things we are lacking…

Hey everyone, I hope that you all have been well. I know that it’s been a while since I’ve last talked to you all. I want to tell you all that it wasn’t purposely but that my laptop has since decided to cross to the other side…yes, my hard drive is fried. I am very sad about this situation because now I am no longer able to give you all as many blogs as I want to in the time frame that I would like either. Don’t fret though I am doing everything that I possibly can to create content for you all. That’s why I am here today with a very important topic that I feel as though needs to be talked about within our community.

So, my question to you is where is the representation of the true to size tall woman in the fashion industry? Why is it that brands that claim to have long, or tall options don’t fit a true to size tall woman? Have you been able to find a brand that actually made products that fit your body and the length of your arms or legs?

It seems as if these brands only want to appear to be inclusive to all shapes and sizes but when it comes to actually producing clothing with that in mind it doesn’t happen. As a tall woman I have had to struggle with finding clothing that would not only fit the length of my body but also fit the shape of my body. Every time I went into a store to try to buy a pair of jeans, they would either be too big, too small, or high waters. I was never even given the chance to have a choice of a piece of clothing that actually fit my body. That on top of the mental abuse and bullying that we tall woman are subject to makes us feel even more invisible.

Being a child growing up in a generation where they take what you wear as apart of yourself worth, if you are not able to buy clothes that fit in with the crowd then you become an outcast. On top of already being different than others around you because of a genetic that was passed onto you without any of your control, that gives those around you another reason to bully you. I know some of you may be thinking well that’s a petty thing to get bullied over. Well it may be petty to you; but it is the reality to a lot of tall females across the world.

As reality continues to hit us from every direction, we look to try to better ourselves when we go shopping but even in the fashion industry we get ignored. Brands love to claim that they use true to size tall models, but if that is the case why are the clothing that you “true to size” models are wearing don’t fit the true to size tall females of the world. Now if you are wondering why I don’t just shop at a brand that makes clothing for tall woman. Now first off, a lot of those said brands are only online, I cannot go into a store, shop and try on to make sure they fit. Secondly most of those brands it cost an extreme amount just to purchase those jeans. Then thirdly, sometimes most people do not have access to the internet or a computer easily.

As you meet other tall woman, they may have different reasons, but I’ve learned over the course of many years and talking to many different tall women that they these are many of the main factors. I have also learned as my fashion brand has grown the reason behind why jeans cost so much. On the flip side I have also learned that you are able to find top quality product that doesn’t break your pockets so that you aren’t breaking your customer’s pockets. Then on the other hand I’ve learned that sometimes people just don’t like to support black owned businesses the way that they would support any other high fashion brand.

That is why I found it so monumental to create a brand that will bridge the gap and create the things that we the tall community are lacking. Being able to show the world that the “true to size tall girls” are here we will and will no longer be ignored. We are striding to the forefront in the fashion industry and demanding the inclusivity that we deserve. We are much more than just our height and we deserve clothing that shows that.

What are we lacking? The necessities but don’t worry, we the leaders of the tall girl community are working on that.
