Let’s have a show!

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? Yes, you know the drill; go ahead and answer the question. Unload the long week you have had and celebrate all the small wins that you have had. Do not let the anger, the frustration, the negative energy; continue to invade your life and soul. Continue to walk the path that will lead you to become the person that you’ve always wanted to be.

You guys guess what? This month I will be participating in my very first fashion show. Well if we want to be honest, I already participated in one. I know you may be thinking, “they are still doing fashion shows?” Yes, they are, and I was shocked to see they were still going on, but then I started thinking I need to be a part of one. In the end not too long after that thought a friend name Rae of mine hit me up through Instagram asking me if I wanted to wear some pieces from her clothing line in a show hosted by The Elevated Exp and Rina B. At that point I automatically said yes for two reasons. One is that she is a close friend of mine so I want to support her, and two I will now have the opportunity to walk in my first show as a model.

Now this show would be different than the others, that I have been able to participate in as designer. This show was going to happen virtually, but we still had to go to set which was in Chincoteague Island. Once I found that out, I became even more excited because I haven’t seen anything close to a beach in a really long time, and while we were driving to the location there was so many beautiful pieces of scenery around.

As we pulled up to the location, it seemed like it was the smallest house ever. Especially with a 3-story house sitting right across the street it made the house look even smaller. Now let me tell you in this case size isn’t the only thing that matters. As you walk inside the house there is the most beautiful aesthetic that you have ever seen. The wooden floors seemed to glow and make the light reflect off of the seashells that has been turned into wall décor. As you continue to walk in the house on the there is small room with the most beautiful blue hues. Then as you walk to the right there you will see the dining room that is connected to the front indoor porch. As you continue walking through the dining room, you will reach the kitchen that has a beautiful table in the corner that is paired with cushion seats that almost look like a bench but is connected to the wall. Next as you continue through the kitchen you will end up on the indoor back porch. Now if you were to turn back around and go the living room, the walk down the straight hallway there would be 3 doors. The one directly in front of you takes you to a bedroom with two beds in it. The door on the right will take you to the bathroom. Then the door on the left will take you to a master bedroom with a gorgeous bathroom with a shower to die for.

Now that you can picture the area of the house, the hallway that leads to those three doors is where the runway was, then we exit through the dining room. Go through the kitchen onto the back porch and through the sliding doors to get to the room at the end of the hallway to get changed and ready to walk again. Now everyone this was my first fashion show that I was walking in, so I was a little nervous plus I didn’t know I was going to end up wearing other pieces by other designers. Seriously I found out as I was doing my make up so I that was more pressure added. Plus, on top of that I was going to be wearing a pair of heels that I have never walked in before. So, in the end you can conclude that I was nervous.

As the time for the show grew close, I begun to play some music and that helped calm my nerves. Then Nahsang the owner of Gahlia Collections gave me a compliment that helped calm my nerves even more. Then more to the point that I was given the gift of some pieces from her brand, so I decided to let go of fear and do my best. After that I went to head towards the runway and set it on fire. For my first fashion show I am very proud of the way it went. There were no hiccups, the show was smooth, and I did my absolute best. I was received many good compliments, and most importantly I was proud of myself.

This is only show number one, the next one is right around the corner on November 25th, 2020. I am excited and nervous all over again, but the same way I lit the stage to flames at the Elevated Exp Fashion Show I will do the same at the next one.
