The Adjustment +Tips

I have been back for almost a month now and I have continuously been struggling to adjust back to my normal life. The comparisons between the USA and Spain have calmed down some. It's not as bad as it was about a week ago. I can finally sleep peacefully and at the correct time frame.

I hear that this is a common thing for most people who do international travel; especially if it's their first time out the country. As you guys know I was a travel virgin before the big leap I took to go to Barcelona, Spain. It was one of the best things that I've done in my life. I do suggest that people to travel because you will make memories that will last a life time.

I'm not going to lie to you guys it’s been hard for me to adjust back to my life here. Not in the way that my sleep pattern is still off, but that I am now faced with the responsibilities of an adult now. I am now a recent graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I also do not plan on working a traditional 9-5 job either, I have an entrepreneurial spirit. The thing is with that come the struggle to be the best me that I can be. Not saying I wasn't ready because I was. It's just now it’s really time to get to work and hustle for everything I said that I wanted.

Whether it's playing basketball, going to fashion school, or just continuing on steadfast with my business and passion. I am ready for every obstacle that I will have to face. I am excited for what my future holds. I am excited for what I will be experiencing and writing about in the future. This adjustment is going to get easier and I will end up coming out on top and doing better than I was before I left the country.

So, if you are a first-time traveler and recent college graduate like me then here are some tips on adjusting back to your normal way of life back where ever you are from. In my case I'm adjusting back to how life was for me in Washington, DC. So first off just know it’s okay to want to compare everything back home to how your life was overseas. Especially if you were there for a long period of time. Not only your body but you have been emerged into a new culture and were probably finally adjusted. So, having to compare your two environments is good for you because now you can take the good that you learned there and apply to your lifestyle back home.

The second thing is it will take time for your body to adjust back to the time difference especially if you were in a country that has a big time change or if it's your first time traveling abroad. If your body is struggling to adjust back to your regular time difference that's okay. Everyone’s body is different; like me it took me almost 2 weeks to finally be readjusted to my time frame. That's just my example, a friend of mine it only took a couple days. So, don't worry or stress yourself out, and if your friends or bosses can't understand that know that it's not your fault. Take your time to adjust and don't let anyone make you feel bad about not being able to.

I am pretty sure everyone notices the difference in price ranges countries have once you visit them. You can also notice how much healthier the food is as well. So, my third piece of advice is taking the habits that you had while you were away and apply it to your everyday life style. Especially if you notice that the way you were eating, and spending was better than when you are when you are home. Then the thought of applying those attributes shouldn't be a problem. The down side is that it's possible it will be hard because those countries have different laws and regulation regarding their food. So, it may not be as easy to find the healthy and cheap choice you found so easily there but it is possible.

When it comes to fashion and make-up every place you travel to the style will be different, but if you are into fashion like I am then here is my tip number four for you. If you traveled to a country where you loved their style and it reminded you of your own personal style then take note of your surroundings and try to come up with ideas of outfits that you could style to have that look you want. Figure out what stores are best to get the clothes from that you prefer. If you want to make the clothing your-self, you are going to have to make sure you are able to find the right material and get your ideas out on paper. If you can’t do that then find someone who can. I can say that taking pictures is a great idea to help keep ideas in your head, especially if you aren’t the type to be able to sketch out their ideas. Even if the style that you love is different than the style of the people back home its doesn’t matter. Don’t worry or stress about what others say and always be unique to your-self and your style. If you love the outfit that you have on, then no one can tell you different. For those who aren’t into fashion but liked some of the items they saw in that country you can take note of the stores you went to or you saw to see if they are back home. If not, then just make sure you note the stores to see if it’s possible they have an online market.

Also, that urge to travel again is a good thing. I am not sure if it was just me or if all travelers are like this. The thing is once I got back in the states, I had an urge to want to leave right back out the country and travel to another one. That is a good driving motivation for you to do it, there is nothing wrong with wanting to travel. So, I say keep that urge and let it push you forward to the next country you're going to travel to. So, for my fifth and last piece of advice is let your passion for traveling for whatever reason you went push you to continue. For me I can't wait for the next country I go to and I can't wait to take you guys along for the ride.
